So the last month or so at the Preece house has been pretty crazy. Matt got his mission call moved up 6 weeks and that has put everyone into high stress overload. It was even trickier because Matt was away at school and moved home only days before he has to leave for the MTC. Every spare chance he would come home and go shopping, go to the ortho (he just got his braces of on Monday), and move stuff home from school.
Mom was already way stressed about getting the house ready, and food prepared for the farewell when Matt put out an invite on facebook for the big event. He had like 140 people say they were coming and 80 say "maybe." So this made mom even more stressed out. We decided to plan on feeding 200! Crazy. We worked for at least a week to get everything ready, cooked 200 potatoes, and served potato bar with salads and desserts.
Everything turned out really well, and we had PLENTY of left over potatoes! We did have a lot of people show up, but a really big snow storm that morning kept a lot of people from making it. Here is a picture of Matt and just a fraction of the people who came. (We also had people in the craft room, Mike's room, Paige's room, Nicki's room, the Living room, the kitchen, and the dining room!)
Last night we celebrated his birthday (because it is on Dec. 22) and Christmas. We had a nice dinner and gave him presents (let's be honest-what do you give a missionary?!) Then he unpacked all of his stuff from school and repacked his suitcases with mission stuff. Tonight he is being set apart, and tomorrow he leaves!!
"See ya in 2", as Matt says.
