California!!

Danny decided he needed a break from work, so we planned a pretty last-minute trip to California. We were trying to keep it cheap, so we drove out there and my awesome aunt & uncle let us stay with them. We were planning on heading out there on Saturday, but of course Caydence came down with Influenza-B right before (even though we BOTH got flu shots). She had a nasty cough that started Tuesday night (which she still has almost 2 weeks later!) and she ran a fever for about 3 days. So I took her in and the doctor confirmed our suspicions. She started looking better, so we delayed our departure one day and thought she'd be good to go. But Saturday night the fever returned and she looked miserable. We went back and forth a hundred times and finally decided we better stay home. Everyone was really bummed. The next day we talked to my aunt that we were supposed to be staying with and she was so chill about it and we changed our minds again! We jumped in the car, much later than we hoped, and made the 10 hour trek.

It's a good thing we only had one kid back there, we were packed in!

Caydence is such an angel! She felt pretty miserable, but never complained. She only asked for ONE bathroom break in 10 hours! And she entertained herself the entire time with a little bag of lame toys I threw together last minute. She is a dream!

We had such a great time.

Caydence loved the beach, until the tiniest non-wave knocked her over, and of course I forgot a change of clothes, so she spent the rest of the day wet. (but still not a single complaint!)

We had lunch at a diner on the pier and this was our amazing view from our table. Jealous?

We rode the ferry in our car to the cute Balboa island.

Rode some rides (had the place to ourselves)

Visited the San Diego Zoo, first time since Danny and I were little.

And of course Disneyland. Caydence had been talking about it for weeks! She is so spoiled! What kid has been to Disneyland 3 times in their almost 3 short years!?! But we all LOVE Disneyland. She maybe cried on EVERY SINGLE ride, but we still made her go on them (trying to break her of her extreme whimpy-ness). But then she would get to the end of the ride and say "that was fun" so we'd ask if she wanted to ride again and the answer was always a very quick and definite "no!"

We wore her out, she was literally asleep before we even turned on the car. She was SO GOOD. She still wasn't feeling great but she lasted 10 hours with no nap like a champ. She is so amazing!

We had a blast and just enjoyed soaking up the nice weather, playing basketball, and watching tv with Marc and Pam. Thanks to them for a great week!!
