D-H-S!

On Friday we went to Michael's graduation. (I call him little Mike, but he is by FAR the tallest person in the family. Notice who the shrimp is? ME! Other than the 10 year old...)
It was pretty weird to think it's been 6 years since I graduated! Crazy.

I decided to try out my new skills and make dessert for the fam. We were all so full from dinner at Texas Roadhouse that we took it home, and Michael never even got a piece because he left for the all night party and everyone else ate it! I didn't have any either, but I heard it was good :)

It's the Davis "D" just in case you don't recognize it. And, yes, our colors are brown and gold :)

Last week of cake class.

Last night was the last cake class (until I start fondant next week). This was my final cake. It's a lot of fun, but I really want a real occasion to try out my new skills, I just had to pawn this one off on my grandma to serve at a presidency meeting she's having tonight.
And I just had to post these pictures of Caydence. We went out to ride her new scooter last night and it just kills me how grown up she is! It makes me so sad that she's not my little baby anymore! She's a little person!

No motivation.

I had absolutely no motivation to do anything yesterday. So I picked up a project I cut out a month ago and finally sewed it together. I found this pattern online and fell in love with it. It is Amy Butler's Birdie Sling. It his HUGE which is exactly what I need for a diaper bag/purse. (you can't really tell in this picture, but it has cute pleats on the top)
I always alter my patterns, so I added a magnetic snap to keep it closed, and a clip on the side to keep track of my keys (an idea from my cousin Ally-love it)
I found this online and altered it a little as well. It is a clutch to hold diapers and wipes, as well as a changing pad.
When it's all open, the top is the changing pad. I covered it with vinyl so it's water proof (just the changing pad side.)
And the pocket at the bottom holds the diapers and wipes.
I love it!! I should have no motivation more often.... :)

Cake class week 1

I just started a cake decorating class and this was my first cake. Not too shabby- especially since we only got about 20 minutes at the end of class to decorate it. I'm pretty much a perfectionist, so it took me an hour to ice the cake and it still wasn't as good as I wanted it! I was a little bummed to learn that this is the last time Wilton will offer this class because they've overhauled the whole program and it's all new starting next month! But I am taking the fondant class next month, which is what I'm really interested in.

(Yes, those are my kitchen counters that are pretty much the color of a yellow crayon. They are even more yellow in real life...)

I knew it!

I always knew it, but now I have justification that Caydence is the cutest baby ever. Yesterday I had a lady stop me and tell me she was a talent agent for Nickelodeon and Baby Gap, etc. and she was interested in Caydence. She gave me her card and asked when she could call me, but I was definitely not interested (the LAST place I want my child is in show business).

I shouldn't discredit the fact by telling you this was in the toy department at WALMART, and she was stopping EVERY person that walked by, and she was pretty trashy, but come on, tell me you wouldn't have stopped this:

13.1 miles + NO walking = AWESOME

Salt Lake City 1/2 marathon
We may have been really slow, but we accomplished our goal of not walking a SINGLE STEP! Wow, I still can't believe we did it (except that my legs are still feeling it.)

Lame.

Sometimes I am a lame parent. I know Caydence is our first child so we should be really excited about the holidays, and making them extra special for her, but I've been feeling absolutely no need to spend money on things she won't remember. Today is Easter. The "Easter Bunny" brought her $1 peeps and a $1 sucker, that's it. She hasn't even seen them yet. For her birthday we got her a soccer ball. That's it. We've never spent much on her for any holiday/birthday. I just don't feel like she needs a lot of money spent on her. After all, that's not what Easter is about anyways. And she's never going to remember. And she has everything she needs. She had fun at the Easter egg hunt with my fam, and that's really all the candy she needs.

Am I lame for not wanting to spend money on her? I just think I'd rather save our money. She doesn't know the difference, right?
